We are called to help people know Jesus. But you can't help people, if you believe that “God is mad at you.” Just like the prodigal son coming home to his father in shame, fear, and unworthiness - we ourselves get in a cycle of separation from he Father. But the Father is welcoming us home! In our mess, in our pain, in our problems - He is still welcoming us home and wants to wrap us up in His arms and hold us.
